Lady Austen is a beautiful 1976 example of the Bob Perry-designed Valiant 40. First introduced in 1973, the Valiant 40 came to define the performance cruiser category providing excellent racing characteristics in an open ocean cruising yacht.
This three-owner vessel has been extensively updated by the current owner since purchased in 2016 including:
- repowering in 2018 with a new Volvo D2-40F engine (just over 100 hours)
- an extensive refit with SeaMarine in Port Townsend in 2023 replacing the balsa deck core w/ foam
- newly painted hull (2023)

Upon descending the companionway steps, you are greeted with a rich dark teak interior with galley to port and nav station to starboard. Forward is a salon with plush brown seating to both port and starboard flanking a dining table with drop leaves. The salon leads to a comfortable vee berth flanked by a head to port and hanging locker to starboard.. Aft of the nav station is a second double berth.
