1985 Morgan 43CC

Sunshine Daydream (1985 Morgan 43CC – purchased in 2006) 

This 1985 Nelson-Marek-designed Morgan 43 center cockpit, short-rig configured sailing yacht is the perfect long-distance, live-aboard cruiser.  I know because my wife and I bought this boat in 2006 specifically for the adventure of a lifetime.  After completing the upgrades listed below in 2006 and 2007, we lived aboard for 2 years. We cruised over 20,000 nautical miles after sailing from Chicago in September 2007, cruising as far east as Portofino, Italy, and as far south as Trinidad before returning to Chicago in June 2009.

She is ready to sail and has been sailing every summer on Lake Michigan since returning from our sabbatical.  Below is a list of upgrades performed in 2006 and 2007 before we sailed off on our adventure, as well as numerous upgrades and enhancements since then.  She needs a little TLC and is perfect for DIYer.  Alternatively, the boatyard where she is now can handle the minor work to bring her up to pristine condition.  The cost of doing so, plus what I am asking, will yield a boat like no other at a comparable cost.  Check out the YouTube video to get a closer look and the cosmetic work that needs to be done:  https://youtu.be/mgrqEffO-nQ
