RISING STAR | 28' 1985 MORRIS
Morris Yachts have an impeccable reputation for classic styling and solid construction. For over 40 years these boats have been built in Maine, a place steeped in maritime history and craftmanship. Each boat has been built one at a time, allowing the details to matter and a boat crafted like no other. These classic yachts with their full keels are quick and stable making them ideal for coastal cruising or day sailing. A spacious cockpit and all lines running aft make this a very comfortable and easy to sail 28’ classic that always turns heads.
Rising Star has been very well cared for and recently hauled and bottom inspected. All systems, sails and mechanical are in proper working order. She is ready to leave the dock and go sailing! This Morris is owned by Lowcountry Maritime School (LMS) and by purchasing Rising Star you are not only getting a piece of maritime art you are helping support an incredible organization devoted to maritime history and education for our young people.
Many of these boats have been listed as high as 100k and in past years more than 6 boats have sold for between $65,000 and $82,000 per Soldboats.com data from the Marine MLS system. Rising Star’s low price is not a reflection of her condition or quality, but LMS desire for her to quickly fall in to loving hands that will continue proper care and maintenance while allowing the mission of LMS to continue with more than sufficient funding.
Established in 2014, the Lowcountry Maritime School is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping educate our youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math using wooden boat construction and other maritime activities as our teaching platform.
We engage our students in the path of learning through hands-on projects that are applicable in the “real world”. In addition to learning essential “hard” skills such has science and arithmetic; our students are also exposed to many “soft” lessons and experiences that help improve their social and emotional strengths including learning to work with others in a team and building the patience and perseverance needed to complete a long-term goal!
