Vellamo is one of the finest Nauticat 38's in existence. She has been lovingly kept and continuously upgraded by her past 4 owners.

The Nauticat 38 is a wonderful pilothouse sailboat. With her fin keel and tall rig she sails great! The commanding raised pilothouse provides clear visibility all around and floods the interior with light. Four season cruising is entirely comfortable with the Espar forced air diesel furnace. The Nauticat 38 may be the ideal Inside Passage & Great Circle cruising sailboat. She only burns 1.4-1.6 gallons per hour while cruising at 7.2 knots and sails great.
Vellamo is in fabulous condition, has all the gear and is ready to go the distance.

Accommodations
The raised pilothouse on the Nauticat 38 has a wonderful all-around view and is flooded by light. Entry is made by either port or starboard sliding side doors. There is a large overhead sliding sunroof that offers great ventilation and an unrestricted view of the sailplan.
The skipper has a commanding view from the helm position. There is a large chart table, plenty of room for navigational electronics and a beautiful teak wheel.
She can be driven from either the inside or out with two complete helm stations. Also in the pilothouse is a pedestal table and plenty of seating. The sitting area also has a good view out the large windows. Our Nauticat owners choose to eat most meals and hang out in the pilothouse.
As you move forward and down two steps you will find the linear galley on port and a large "U-Shape" settee and table on starboard. The dinette converts to a double berth. There is abundant storage under the settees.
Foward of the dinette is a private head & shower with its own holding tank. Opposite the head is a large hanging locker and additional galley storage.
A private cabin with a double vee-berth is forward. Aft of the pilothouse and down two steps is the private owners aft cabin. Plenty of storage and hanging space is well ventilated. A large double pullman berth is on starboard and an additional single berth is on port.
- There is a large aft head in the stateroom with shower.

Electrical
Vellamo has a massive DC electrical system made up of 8ea deep-cycle golf cart batteries in 2 banks. Bank 1 was replaced in 2018, Bank 2 was replaced in 2019.
This battery bank is charged by large frame engine mounted Balmar alternator. This is a very robust battery system capable of powering her for long periods of time without need for regular charging.
A NEW Victron Energy Heart 3000W Inverter/ Charger has been installed. There is a Heart Link 2000 Battery monitor. There is an automatic transfer switch that bypasses the inverter when plugged into shore power. The Link 2000 will display battery voltages and amp-hours in to and out of the battery bank.
Newer Blue Seas 12-volt DC and a separate 110-volt AC panels were recently added.
