1988 Cabo Rico 38XL

S/V Yonder is hull #125 of the proud Cabo Rico line.  This full keel, clipper bow cutter is solidly built for serious blue water cruising and has been our family’s beloved coastal cruiser for the past several years.

S/V Yonder’s 7,800 lb lead ballast / 21,000 lb displacement give her a steady and strong bearing to heavy seas when needed.  Her ample freshwater capacity (140 gal.), fuel capacity (58 gal.), and energy supply (100 W solar panels) support long passages or coastal cruising with less worry about logistics stops.

The interior is outfitted with solid teak throughout with 6’1’+ headroom.  The cabin includes two staterooms (V-berth and aft cabin), head, and a semi-custom main cabin layout with two captain’s chairs alongside the C-berth.  The galley contains an electrically cooled reefer, two-burner propane stove, and pressurized water system.  She is equipped with a Webasto diesel cabin heater and cabin fans throughout.

She has a long list of upgraded equipment in the past four years including new Raymarine instruments, radar, and chart plotter, new running rigging, electrical reconfiguration/new components, ICOM VHF radio, AIS transceiver, cabin cushions, potable water pump, and more.

Her Westerbeke 44B diesel engine runs well, has been professionally maintained, and is accessible in the center of the cabin.  She is equipped with 100 W solar panels, three house batteries (new in 2022) and a dedicated engine start battery. 

The cockpit contains teak seats and deck with generous locker capacity.  Her prominent teak caprails and bowsprit were refinished in 2024.  She has a stern dinghy davit, swim ladder, and connectable dodger/bimini.
