M/V "Good Sign" is a
1990 39' Nils Lucander "Three Keel" steel pilothouse trawler. Built by Lorenzen Boat Works in LaBelle, Florida. Boat is located in Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Hull of welded 3/16" steel with 3/4" keel plates and 3/8" frames with 3/16" T - Bar longitudinals. Sprayed in foam insulation on inside of hull and under deck creates a very dry and quiet interior. Deck and cabin sides of 3/16" steel with 1-1/4" plywood and fiberglass cabin tops and pilothouse sides. Hull and deck are finished with two part urethane paints...2023 and 2024. 1/2" tempered glass in pilothouse.
42" tall deck railings of 1" and 1-1/4" welded stainless steel.
Kolstrand Paravanes with A-frame outriggers made of 2" welded 3/16" wall aluminum tubing.
Engines..
Isuzu 4BD1 four cylinder naturally aspirated 85 hp diesels with about 4500 hours. Transmissions are Hurth mechanical HBW 450's with 3:1 ratio. 1-3/4" stainless shafts with Aqua Drive couplings...shafts ride in lubricated tubes with spherical roller thrust bearings and bronze stern bearings. Propellers are 28"X19" three blade bronze. This gives a cruising speed of 6.5 to 7 knots with a total fuel consumption of 2.12 gallons per hour which gives a range of over 2500 nautical miles plus a reserve.
Phasor 4.5 kw diesel generator with about 1420 hours.
900 gallons of fuel capacity in two steel tanks. Tanks and fuel are maintained by an ESI Fuel Polishing System. No evidence of water, rust or algae contamination in the Racor filters. Over 600 gallons of fuel aboard.
Water tank of stainless steel with 300 plus gallon capacity. Pressure water system for galley, head sink and shower with two water heaters of five and six gallon size...one with heat exchanger.
A pump room under the forward cabin contains pumps for A/C, fresh water, toilet flush and wash down.
Head has a Raritan Crown macerator toilet connected to an Electroscan waste treatment system or a 25 gallon holding tank with a Jabsco diaphragm electric pump for overboard evacuation of waste tank. Granite counter top in head vanity and a 36"X36" fiberglass stall shower in a full beam compartment.
The galley is equipped with a three burner propane stove with oven and has solenoid gas shutoff. Two horizontal 20 lb aluminum propane tanks on top of pilothouse. There is a 900 watt microwave oven and an Indel 4.5 cubic foot 12 volt refrigerator and a 4.5 cubic foot top loading 12 volt freezer with two holding plates. There is a deep double house style sink with single lever mixer.
Cabin heating is provided by a Dickinson Antarctic diesel stove, a bus type heater in the pilothouse plumbed to the port engine, and an 11k BTU Cruise Air heat pump in the forward cabin and a 12k BTU Mermaid heat pump for the pilothouse and galley/salon.
The pilothouse has opening windows Diamond Sea Glaze front and back with a bench seat that doubles as a berth. Electronics include a Garmin 4210 Chart plotter with integrated HD radar, a Garmin 7 CV depth/ fish finder with a Chirp transducer, an Icom VHF with an AIS receiver. Engine controls are Kobelt single lever and the engine synchronizer is by Glendining. Autopilot is Wagner S50 hydraulic that is integrated with the Wagner steering system. The autopilot compass is an 8" Saura flat card enclosed in a polished brass binnacle.
Electrical system has Marinetics 12 volt and 120 volt breakers. Two large frame 160 amp Delco alternators are connected through manual alternator controllers for fast charging of eight six volt lead acid golf cart batteries in two banks. Heart 2000 watt inverter/ charger with a link 2000 battery monitor controls house power. A Renogy 200 watt solar panel is mounted on the cabin top with a Renogy controller in the engine room.
Ground tackle includes a 45 pound Manson and a 45 pound Delta plow type anchors. 220+ feet of BBB chain on the Manson and 25 feet of BBB chain on the Delta with 100' of three strand nylon . Main anchor has electric Maxwell Nilson vertical capstan/windlass with up only.
The dinghy is old but in fair useable condition. 1999 9.5' Caribe RIB with a 2017 Suzuki four stroke 15 hp.... approximately 60 hours. The dinghy rides atop the pilothouse and is lifted by a 12 volt winch on an aluminum davit.

Forward cabin has two large single beds. A full beam head compartment with a 36" X 36" stall shower is between the forward cabin and the salon. Salon and galley have a dining table and seating that converts to a wide single berth and a settee that converts to a single berth. The pilothouse is up three steps and contains a bench seat that can be used as a single berth.
Galley has a three burner propane stove with oven and a solenoid gas shutoff. An indel 4.2 cubic foot 12 volt refrigerator is located in an island cabinet in the galley space. There is a 4.5 cubic foot 12 volt top loading freezer with two holding plates. A 900 watt microwave oven is located above the counter on the aft bulkhead. The galley sink is a deep house sized double stainless steel with a single lever faucet
A Maxwell Nilson vertical windlass with lift only handles the anchors. A 45 lb Manson anchor with 200+ feet of 3/8" BBB chain rode and a 45 lb Delta with a 30' of chain and 100 feet of 3/4" nylon rode rests in bow rollers on an extended platform on the bow. There is a saltwater wash down at the bow.
On the pilothouse roof are two 20 pound aluminum propane cylinders. An aluminum crane with an electric winch lifts the dinghy to the top of the pilothouse for secure storage.
The rooftop aluminum structure supports the antennas, radar, navigation lights and the tackle for the paravanes outriggers.
The pilothouse is equipped with a Garmin 4210 chatplotter with an integrated HD radar, an Icom VHF with a Garmin AIS receiver. The autopilot is a Wagner S50 hydraulic system that is part of the Wagner steering system. The depth finder is a Garmin 7 CV fish finder/sounder with a CHIRP transducer. There is a 10" screen for connecting a laptop computer for PC based navigation information display.
