Boat History & Condition
If you understand the value of regeneration and hybrid technology in sailboats, this vessel is a gem. Purchased for $120,000, over $175,000 has since been invested in upgrades, with the last survey valuing it at around $150,000. The boat is fully insurable, and insurance was just renewed. It is sailable and livable at the dock or can be prepared for long-distance cruising with some work. With its solid foundation, it could even be outfitted for a world ARC voyage.
Refit & Key Features
The boat underwent a full retrofit in 2010, including:
• Replacement of two sail drives with stuffing boxes, straight shafts, and 17/14 wheel props
• Installation of two Homewood permanent magnet motors (4.5kW effective 6HP, excellent maneuverability with high torque, 40,000-hour bearings), installed by Dave Tether, a pioneer in electric propulsion for pleasure craft
• Replaced water lines throughout
• DC and AC electrical panels (240V/120V, 50 amp shore power, and 30 amp shore power)
• Electronic helm controls
In 2016, additional upgrades were added:
• Catamaran mainsail with a special design for regeneration power
• Rocna galvanized anchor, one of the best available
• Nature’s Head compost toilet, eliminating the need for pump-outs
• New roller furling boom and redesigned chain plates
• 7.5kW Yanmar diesel generator (AC 240V)
• Full rigging verification, new tri-color mast lights, and stainless whip antenna
• New inverter (240V to 110V, 3,000W)
• 12 Group 31 Trojan batteries (105 amp hours, Overdrive Models) – these have performed well, though there’s space for lithium batteries if preferred
• Victron cross charger (144V to 12V) with capacity for larger or lithium batteries
• 2 x 240V DC chargers for full battery system recharge
• 144V DC air conditioning system with 5 air handling units
• New bilge pumps throughout
The diesel engine is winterized and unavailable until the sea trial, but an electric motor demonstration can be arranged at the dock. Recent videos showcasing the sail quality can also be texted upon request. Sails are currently removed for winter storage.

GeniGreen offers comfortable living for up to 6 people with three spacious staterooms, each equipped with custom high-end full size mattresses and 110V electrical outlets. With all new cushions and upholstery, the boat’s interior has been thoughtfully designed for livability, with ample storage and modern conveniences.
GeniGreen features a 58-gallon diesel tank with a fuel polishing system (filters need changing due to dormancy) and a low-hour Yanmar diesel generator, consuming only 0.3 gallons per hour. The hybrid electric motors regenerate power while sailing, with battery charging starting at 3.5 knots, and significant charging at 5 knots or more. Solar panels were installed but removed. There is ample space on the hardtop for advanced solar installation.
The hatches at the gangway steps have been sealed with fiberglass, though the interior finishing remains incomplete, allowing the new owner to customize. A custom rudder performs better than the original; a dive tank system with a tank lifter is also included. The boat is seaworthy as is and has been sailed without issues.
The galley is equipped for comfortable living and long voyages. It features a new induction cooktop, replacing the traditional stove, along with a full kitchen sink and modern drainage system. Two 65-gallon freshwater tanks provide ample water for cooking and cleaning, with pumps and a hot water heater ensuring convenience.
The deck and hull are designed for durability and performance. The hull is made of composite fiberglass, with a keel-type design for stability. The deck features a Rocna galvanized anchor, known for its reliable holding power, and ample space for advanced solar installations. The windows and hatches have been resealed with fiberglass for enhanced waterproofing, though the interior finish remains customizable. The boat also comes with a dive tank system and tank lifter, perfect for diving enthusiasts.
GeniGreen is in need of a full navigation system upgrade, estimated between $4,000–$7,000 for a modern, state-of-the-art setup. This would include wind, depth, and navigation instruments. While I’ve used an iPad for navigation over the past few years, a more comprehensive system is recommended for serious voyaging. The autopilot has been removed, though some components remain, allowing for a straightforward reinstallation. Despite this, the boat tracks well and handles beautifully without the autopilot. Upgrading the navigation systems will enhance the vessel’s capabilities for longer journeys.
All sails, including a custom sailbag with a zipper, have been professionally cleaned and repaired to like-new condition. Access to a great dock and marina offers convenient amenities.
Two dock boxes provide ample storage for gear.
A dinghy with a gas outboard could be included in the sale.
The trampoline, replaced in 2016, is in excellent condition, creating a comfortable space for relaxation at anchor.
