Description
Sell my baby? I cant explain this, but after 25 years were ready to sell our 1995 Hunter 26. Were tired and have only been out on the boat twice this year. Im thinking now is a better time to sell than early spring when its on a trailer.
This Hunter 26 is great for sailing, entertaining and anchoring! With an 8.6' beam we've entertained guests so total on boat is six adults. With the sternrail grill we enjoy burgers or steaks and eat below in the cabin or up top in the cockpit.
It's an easy boat to sail. I've tried to get close to tipping it and I could not as it turns to the wind when things get nuts.
It has the original 9.9 hp Evinrude that always starts on the second pull, a furling jib and of course the main sail. Everything works fine. Bottom was painted two year ago and still looks fine. Includes mast raising pole and wire guides.
I know there are people out there that would be on this boat every week and will have a ton of fun while I sadly now ave other interests closer her to home.
There is nothing missing from the boat as originally manufactured. The wood seats and hatch boards are in perfect shape as they have been protected from the weather.
We've towed it with our 1995 Ford Econline 150, 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4 cyl) & now 2020 Subaru Outback.
The trailer is being professionally checked out so it will be in perfect condition for travel.
Oh, and yes, I hosted the Indianapolis Colts chearleaders in 2000 so there were 32 bikini clad colts chearleaders on my boat for hours for the photo op that was the cover to the calendar! A fun day!
The Hunter 26 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop rig, a raked stem, a reverse transom, a transom-hung rudder and a centerboard. It displaces 4,600 lb (2,087 kg) and carries 2,000 lb (907 kg) of flooding water ballast. The ballast is drained for road transport.
The boat has a draft of 6.00 ft (1.83 m) with the centerboard extended and 1.75 ft (0.53 m) retracted, allowing beaching or ground transportation on a trailer.

I'm paid at the club through 3/1/25 so if you want to store on the trailer on the gravel parking lot with 300 other boats for the winter that is fine with me.
