Description
Sorcerer II is a 95 foot performance cruiser designed by German Frers constructed of composite GRP/EGlass/Kevlar by TP Cookson in New Zealand. She is equipped with a Southern Spars carbon rig, in-boom furling, three headsails and hydraulic sail controls. As such, this powerful performance yacht can be easily managed by only 2 crew. Over the past 25 years she has been maintained to the highest standards with timely refits, rigging replacements, mechanical overhauls and paintwork.
Sorcerer II offers sumptuous guest accommodations for up to eight in the Owner’s party, with two guest staterooms and the Owner’s suite aft and two double crew cabins with ensuites and galley/lounge forward. Her raised salon with full navigation/controls offers excellent visibility and provides a remarkable sense of spaciousness for dining and lounging. The lower salon area includes a library/theater area to port and an office area to starboard.
As to seaworthiness, the windshield in her main salon is laminated, tempered glass, 1” thick! Likewise, all her portholes and fixed ports were upgraded from plexiglass to tempered glass. She has five watertight bilge areas with multiple bilge pumps and alarms and a walk-in engine room with watertight door. Her maintenance is streamlined by design for easy access to all systems, with engineering by John Cable Engineering of Aukland, NZ.
Her main cockpit offers simple access to all sailing systems and controls, along with a fully protected lounge and entertainment area forward. The helm station has an oversize wheel and protected helm seat, with cable steering for full sensitivity, controls for all systems; autopilot, main sheet & traveler, 50 hp bow & stern thrusters plus all navigation information and systems instrumentation. Redundant systems such as generators, primary anchors, air conditioning chillers, hydraulic systems, charging systems, bilge pumps, 3 headsails, and 5 heads make her a trustworthy world voyager.
In sum, Sorcerer II is a magnificent blend of exceptional performance from her German Frers hull and easily managed sail plan, with generous accommodations and remarkable engineering for exploring the far points of the globe in absolute safety, comfort and style. She is quite simply, a yacht that lives like a castle and sails like a dream.
A decade ago Sorcerer II participated in a world-wide scientific research program, the Global Ocean Sampling Expedition, studying the genetic diversity of the marine microbial world in all of the world’s major oceans, visiting 23 countries and island groups on four continents. The YouTube video 'Cracking The Ocean Code" showcases her capabilities, including the support of dive operations and highlights her suitability for long distance voyages.
Sorcerer II has also displayed her performance capabilities in various ‘Bucket’ regattas and other superyacht racing events, so she can either be efficiently handled by a capable crew of two, or by 25 professional sailors at the top levels of competition. She has most of the features of larger yachts but is still manageable by a small crew and truly fun to sail!
