This impeccibly mainatined Viking 50 Convertible is the consummate luxury sportfisherman, delivering both performance and sea-keeping ability. Based on owner input, Viking has incorporated many popular custom features as standard equipment on the 50, including frameless windows and an extended aft bridge overhang. For the veteran angler, the 144-square-foot cockpit is the ultimate fishing arena with a top-loading freezer, bait prep center, recessed Marlin-sized removable (and optionally refrigerated) fishbox, and available circulating livewell. A swim platform is available as a staging platform, making the cockpit a versatile water-sports area. A seat at the 50's helm affords a panoramic view. The console is laid out with plenty of room for a full suite of electronics, and a Palm Beach-style pod helm is optional. Available with a hardtop and full enclosure, the 50's flying bridge features lounge seating for eight. The 50 features a detailed 160-square-foot salon with quality woodwork, designer fabrics, and plush carpeting. Available in a variety of custom decors, the spacious single-level salon, galley, and dinette are perfect for hosting a party or just spending a quiet evening onboard. Included is a fully equipped entertainment center and bottle storage cabinet. A large L-shaped lounge with optional hide-a-bed and easy-opening articulated seat bottom makes the salon a multi-purpose entertaining and living area. Viking's interior decorator stands ready to help owners with their custom designs. The fully equipped galley offers an unrestricted view of the cockpit action. Featured are a two-burner range, full-size refrigerator - freezer with icemaker (with an optional under-counter refrigerator - freezer), exhaust fan, and large sink with garbage disposal and instant hot water. To starboard, a microwave - convection oven and television are concealed behind pocket doors. Just below, the dinette offers ample seating for dining and entertaining. An available water maker offers a practically unlimited water supply. The Master Suite is amidships for a quiet and smooth ride. The three staterooms feature cedar hanging lockers, individual climate control, stereo controls, reading lights, and overhead opening hatches. Generous headroom and excellent natural and electrical lighting make the 50's accommodations an inviting place to spend the night or relax between landing trophy fish. The two roomy heads are equipped with electric toilets, enclosed showers, sinks with vanities, and exhaust fans. A washer-dryer and central vacuum system add to cruising convenience. The engine room features walk-in cockpit access and superb ergonomics. Every area is easily reached, including outboard of the engines, for routine maintenance. Operating room lighting and glistening white surfaces make leaks easy to spot. Standard features include: flat walking areas, dry storage compartments, integral washdown and oil change systems, powder-coated metal surfaces, emergency de-watering valves, and automatic fire protection systems. Viking's exclusive steel engine beds allow excellent engine access while rugged composite fiberglass fuel tanks ensure long life and maximize fuel system reliability. The 50 is built on an immensely strong 'egg-crate' foundation of interlocking bulkheads and stringers. A solid keel adds impact resistance, longitudinal strength, and aids in tracking at high speeds. Built of just two major fiberglass components (the hull and a one-piece deck-superstructure) the 50's strength results from using carefully selected knitted fiberglass, closely controlled glass-to-resin ratios, composite coring, and vacuum bagging. Leading-edge hull design and styling confirm Viking's uncompromising approach to engineering and construction. With its sharp, deep entry, the 50 slices through steep head seas with ease. She tracks arrow-straight in a following or quarter sea, with moderate deadrise aft, a solid keel, and reverse chines all contributing to lateral stability. 90 percent of what goes into each Viking is designed and built in-house. Craftspeople working across the production lines build yachts of consistently high quality. Viking's tooling, for example, crafted by our resident R&D department, is commonly acknowledged to be on a par with the very best. VIKING YACHTS: Having built over 3,400 yachts in the last three decades, Viking has unrivaled experience in yacht construction. In 1964, Bob and Bill Healey, now Chairman and President respectively of Viking Yacht Company, purchased Viking Builders, a small New Jersey builder of 37-foot wooden cruising and sport fishing yachts. By applying their many years of hands-on experience in the boat building industry, and through incorporation of the newest computer-based technologies, the Healeys have since been able to transform Viking into one of the worlds largest and most respected yacht builders. Viking expects to sell almost 100 yachts this year at an average cost of $900,000. Corporate autonomy is one reason Viking produces world-class yachts. Sole ownership by the Healeys allows Viking to respond quickly when needed and this pays dividends for the yacht owner. When Viking started building in fiberglass in the early 1970's, new construction and design possibilities opened up. Viking was able to combine great strength, lighter weight and advanced hull designs. These hulls could take punishment offshore while delivering the kind of performance boaters had previously only dreamed about. Viking introduced its 40-foot Convertible in 1973 and every Viking since shares this basic hull design, with evolutionary refinements being made to accommodate steadily increasing available horsepower.
