Description
2002 Sea Ray 182BR-MerCruiser 4.3L 1,002 hours
The 2002 Sea Ray 182BR is a popular 18-foot bowrider model from Sea Ray, a well-known brand in the boating industry. It combines sporty performance with family-friendly features, making it a versatile option for both recreational use and water sports like tubing, skiing, and wakeboarding. Here's a detailed overview of the boat:
Key Features of the 2002 Sea Ray 182BR:
- Length Overall (LOA): 18'2" (5.54 meters)
- Beam: 7'6" (2.29 meters)
- Dry Weight: Approximately 2,450 lbs (1,111 kg)
- Max Capacity: Typically around 8 people or 1,250 lbs (567 kg), depending on local regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Fuel Tank Capacity: 32 gallons (121 liters)
- Power Options: The 182BR typically comes with an inboard/outboard (I/O) engine configuration. Popular engine options include the MerCruiser 4.3L V6 (190 hp) or the MerCruiser 5.0L V8 (220 hp), depending on the specific model and buyer’s preference.
Performance:
- The 2002 Sea Ray 182BR is known for its smooth handling and quick acceleration. With its V6 or V8 engine, it provides plenty of power for water sports while maintaining decent fuel efficiency.
- It has a top speed of around 40-45 mph (64-72 km/h) depending on engine size and load.
Interior and Comfort:
- The cockpit features comfortable seating for up to 8 passengers, with cushioned bench seating at the stern and the bow.
- The design includes storage compartments under the seats, a ski locker in the center, and plenty of space for gear.
- A swim platform at the rear with a boarding ladder makes it easy to get in and out of the water, especially for water sports.
- A bimini top or optional full canvas cover provides shade and protection from the sun.
Hull and Construction:
- The hull is made of fiberglass, offering a smooth ride and durability in various water conditions.
- The deep-V hull design ensures stability and comfort, especially in choppy water.
Additional Features:
- Stereo System: A marine-grade stereo with speakers is typically standard, and some models may have upgraded systems.
- Tilt Steering: Allows for easier control and comfort while steering.
- Swim Ladder: Mounted at the rear for easy water access.
- Beverage Holders: Conveniently placed throughout the cockpit area.
Common Uses:
- Day cruising: The 182BR is great for leisurely cruises, offering plenty of space for family and friends.
- Water sports: Its performance capabilities make it an ideal choice for wakeboarding, waterskiing, and tubing.
- Fishing: Though not specifically a fishing boat, the 182BR can be outfitted with rod holders or used for casual fishing.
Maintenance Considerations:
- Engine Care: Like all inboard/outboard engines, regular maintenance is key to ensuring the engine runs smoothly. This includes checking the oil, changing the impeller, and flushing the engine after saltwater use.
- Hull Cleaning: Regular cleaning and waxing help protect the fiberglass from waterline stains and UV damage.
- Upholstery: Check the condition of the vinyl upholstery, as it can fade and crack over time due to sun exposure.
Resale Value and Availability:
- The 2002 Sea Ray 182BR is still quite popular on the used market. It is generally seen as a reliable and well-built boat, so resale value tends to hold fairly well, especially if the boat is in good condition.
- Pricing on used models typically ranges depending on condition, engine hours, and included features. As of the last few years, prices can vary from $10,000 to $15,000 or more for well-maintained boats with lower engine hours.
