It’s more costly, but of significantly higher quality. 29z is stronger and lighter than other boats built with conventional fiberglass or SCRIMP construction, primarily because epoxy has 3x the flexural strength of polyester or vinylester resins. The 29z is the most fuel efficient 29 footer on the market. Apart from hi-tech construction and good design, a major factor is the Volvo Duoprop (counter rotating props on the same shaft) sterndrive. It is also ideal for shoal water operation; is less subject to damage hitting floating objects; and makes it easier to clear a fouled propeller. Simply hinge the drive up, kneel on the swim platform and reach down to untangle the props. No swimming necessary.
