2008 Custom Downeast

25’ x 8’ 6”  Gurnet Point downeast. Vessel is about 70% complete and needs to be finished.

This vessel was designed by Jamie Lowell / Lowell Brothers boatbuilders. The Lowell / Frost family of boatbulders essentially invented downeast boats and have spent generations refining them.  The hull and top were laid up by Sea Glass Technologies in Bristol RI.

Hull is dyvinicell cored from approx. 3” below gunwhale, down to keel. Washrails and house also foam cored.  Stringers, bulkeads and all else composite. Only wood in boat is main deck which is ¾” Okume marine plywood with ¾” Douglas Fir on top.

(2) 48 gallon aluminum fuel tanks either side of engine under deck. Installed properly with proper ventilation and bedded on Penske board platform with ¼” silicone rubber.

2019 Nanni T4.230 HP diesel mated to a ZF 63V gear. Installed 2020.  2 year pleasure ( 1 year commercial) warranty will commence upon commissioning of vessel ONLY if commissioning is done with Nanni authorized service rep to oversee. Extended warranty available as well.  

The top has been glassed on and through bolted. There is minor damage to starboard side aft area of house and wash rail from a tree.

-          1.5” Aquamet  22 stainless shaft

-          Reverso oil change electric pump for engine and  gear

-          RE Thomas bronze shaft seal, skeg, rudder and exhaust port.

-          Groco 1.5”  raw water strainer

Much of the materials needed to finish are included such as:

-          PVC toe rail

-          ¾” stainless steel half round for center of rub rail

-          Engine panel and harness

-          4 blade bronze wheel ( size and pitch calculated for this hull and power combination)

-          Hydraulic steering ( Sea Star commercial grade helm HH5224-3 helm and Capilano bronze steering cylinder)

-          (4) port lights

-          Miscellaneous deck hardware

-          Bilge pumps

Boat has an 8’6” beam to be legally trailerable without permits.

2008 Load Rite galvanized trailer has never been in water and is in excellent shape.
